“A year with little learning or useful work”

I spent roughly a year in the Google Assistant product org after Google Cloud Document AI. In that role I created very little actual output, learned very little, and probably averaged about 15 hours a week. This is not a complaint about the consumer product from the outside; it is an employment-side review of the org I experienced. For an ML engineer deciding whether to join, my experience was that the role underused me instead of giving hard technical reps or meaningful momentum.
